How To Strengthen Your Faith In God

The subject of faith is one that has not been paid much attention to. It is one of the most important weapons of a Believer. And any believer that understands and applies this great mystery will find it easy to thrive in this dying world.

From scriptures, we discover that everyone who excelled or stood out in various fields were men of Faith. Even throughout Jesus' ministry, we see Him at different points in time pointing out the importance of Faith in the life of a Believer (Matthew 8:5-13, Matthew 15:21-28).

How To Strengthen Your Faith In God

No believer will manifest or walk in the reality of his identity in Christ without faith (Hebrews 10:37-38).

Ephesians 6:16 (ESV)
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.

The above scripture further validates that a man of faith is avoided by the enemy. What is a soldier without a shield? So also, what is a believer without faith?

But we must understand that Faith exist in levels. We have;

  • No Faith (John 20:27),
  • Little Faith (Matthew 16:8)
  • Great Faith (Matthew 8:10)
  • Exceedingly growing faith (2 Thessalonians 1:3), etc.

There are things you have access to at these various levels of faith. A believer that doesn't strengthen his faith is limiting himself and making himself vulnerable.

Strengthening one's faith is very necessary if you want to sustain yourself in Christianity. What God wants for you and what you desire from God demands a particular level of faith. If you've not built your faith to that level, you'll remain where you are even though God has prepared a better place for you.

Therefore, let us look at ways to strengthen one's faith in God so as to please Him and walk in the realm of the Supernatural.

10 Ways To Strengthen Your Faith In God

As Christians, we can strengthen our faith in God through the following ways:

1. Studying God's Word

Romans 10: 17 (NIV)
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

Looking at the above scripture, we discover that the Word of God is the source of faith. How can you believe someone if the person has not spoken to you? God's Word is what stirs our faith in God. The more you pay attention to God's Word recorded in the holy Bible, the stronger your faith becomes.

No man can strengthen his faith in God without studying the word of God. How can you believe who you don't know? The more you know Him, the more you trust Him. The more you trust Him, the more your faith in Him is strengthened.

2. Meditating On God's Word

Any man that desires to strengthen his faith in God should meditate on God's Word. It is not enough to read and study God's Word, meditation makes the Word of God to be more rooted in us.

As you meditate on God's Word, you give your spirit-man the opportunity to align with that Word, thereby strengthening your faith to access what God has in store for you.

Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Meditating on whatever God tells you to do, helps you to digest that Word and gives you access to the nutrients in that Word. Faith thrives by revelation, not just by information. And revelation is gotten through quiet and constant meditation. As you meditate on God's Word, your faith in God becomes more dtrengthened.

3. Listening To Testimonies

Revelation 12:11 (AMP)
And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing].

Another way we can strengthen our faith in God is by listening to testimonies of others. Testimonies are faith boosters. In the holy scriptures, there are testimonies of people who have accessed the inheritance through faith.

As you study those testimonies, your faith is also strengthened so it can also deliver your own testimonies. Even in our contemporary world, there are testimonies gotten by the faith of the testifiers. As you listen to such testimonies, your faith in God is empowered to deliver your own testimony to you.

4. Listening To Messages On Faith

This is another profitable way to strengthen our faith in God. The Almighty has genuine servants He has revealed Himself to, and they have proofs of the sovereignty of God. Listening to their messages will stir up our faith in God, as they give us God's Word in simple terms to help our understanding and strengthen our faith.

5. Reading Faith Books

One of the foundations of having or building faith is information. No amount of knowledge is too much if you want to strengthen your faith.

There are people who have built their faith and have experienced things that normal people have not handled or experienced. Reading their books on faith helps you to strengthen your faith in God.

6. Through Prayer And Fasting

Jude 1:20 (NIV)
But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.

The mystery of prayer is an important and essential tool for strengthening our faith in God. Prayer and fasting grants us access to the spirit of faith that helps us to believe all things, thereby making us operate in the supernatural.

Prayer is intimacy. The more intimate you are with God, the more of Himself He reveals to you. And the more of Himself He reveals to you, the more strengthened your faith in Him becomes.

7. Ignore What Negates Your Belief

The enemy knows that faith is our shield against most of his devices. Therefore, he tries to make us pay attention to the things around us that seemingly negate what we believe.

We have to consciously and intentionally focus on God and His Word. If you focus on God and His Word, your faith in God will surely be strengthened. But, if you focus on the things that are not working, your faith will diminish.

The more conscious you are of the physical happenings that negate your faith, the harder it is for you to receive anything from God. Fix your gaze on Jesus.

8. Shun Negative And Anti-Faith Thoughts

The heart of man is the seat of faith. If any anti-faith thought is allowed to fester, you'll miss it.

Do not allow the enemy to give you anti-faith suggestions, if you truly want to strengthen your faith in God. Watch over your thoughts and think only on God's word and His promises to you (2 Corinthians 10:5).

9. Walk In The Fear Of God

Psalms 25:14 (NIV)
The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.

A man of faith is a man that has access to divine secrets. Walking in the fear of God makes you know more of God and thereby strengthens your faith in Him.

10. Live A Life Of Thanksgiving And Praise

This is another powerful way to strengthen your faith In God. As you give yourself to continuous joy and rejoicing, you receive the grace to believe in God the more. Rejoice over God's promises and see yourself enjoying ease without stress.
